Foster

Fostering saves lives!

While most of our adoptable pets reside physically at JRHS, many of our dogs and cats that need a bit more TLC go into loving foster homes until they find their forever home. Sometimes, it is just because we have no more kennels open at the shelter, while other times it is because of a medical or behavioral reason.

Now more than ever are we in desperate need of loving foster homes for our dogs and cats in and around the Jamestown area! There are SO many dogs and cats needing safe places to land, and we simply can't keep up with intaking every one of them - we only have so many kennels and staff/volunteers available.

What can you do to help? Adopt! If you can't adopt, foster! If you can't foster, volunteer!

What does fostering entail?

Fostering means providing a temporary safe and loving home to one of our cats or dogs. You provide the love, attention, (and maybe a bit of training!), and we supply the rest. We work with our fosters to make sure the dog or cat they are interested in fostering is a good fit for their lifestyle. We rely on our foster parents for information on our adoptable pets living with them so we can inform any potential adopters about their behavior, temperament, etc.
